Activator-Primer (Canister) Additional Uses for This Product
As part of our continuous research, product improvement, feedback and testing, we are further enhancing the uses of Activator-Primer (Canister).
Original Uses of Activator-Primer (Canister)
When Activator-Primer was originally launched in summer 2019, demand for torch-free membranes was increasing and there was growing use of self-adhesive Air & Vapour Control Layers and underlayers.
Coupled with increasingly demanding thermal performance requirements, multi-layer insulation build-ups using foil-to-foil installation techniques were becoming more common.
To support these applications and reduce the number of different adhesives required on site, Bauder has undertaken additional testing of the non-flammable Activator-Primer to confirm its suitability for certain adhesive applications.
What Additional Uses Are There for Activator-Primer (Canister)?
Activator-Primer (Canister) was originally developed to prepare substrates, insulation facings and underlayers prior to the installation of self-adhesive membranes.
Following extensive testing, Bauder can now confirm that the product can also be used as:
- Foil-to-foil contact adhesive
- Fleece-backed membrane adhesive
The product is a synthetic rubber resin-based material using a non-flammable solvent and propellant system.
These additional uses are included on the updated product label, Product Data Sheet and within this Contractor Update.
When Do the Changes Come Into Effect?
New specifications written from the date of this update will include Activator-Primer as the preferred foil-to-foil contact adhesive in place of the previous yellow Foil Contact Adhesive where applicable.
Other approved uses of Activator-Primer will also be incorporated into Bauder specifications where appropriate.
What About Existing Specifications?
For historic specifications where Activator-Primer was not specified, Bauder will not insist on a change.
For a limited period, a small stock of Foil Contact Adhesive will remain available for projects where a change of product is not possible.
