Changes to BauderTEC DBR and BauderTEC KSD DUO
Discontinuation of BauderTEC KSD DUO.
We are introducing a thicker version of BauderTEC DBR for use as an Air & Vapour Control Layer (AVCL) in Single Ply systems and discontinuing BauderTEC KSD DUO, which is currently used as both an AVCL and carrier membrane within Cold Applied Liquid systems.
Outline of Changes
We are introducing a new version of BauderTEC DBR with an increased thickness of 0.6mm, known as BauderTEC DBR 06.
BauderTEC DBR 06 will be supplied in the following format:
- Thickness: 0.6mm
- Weight: 0.6kg/m²
- Roll Size: 1.25m × 32m
- Roll Area: 40m²
- Pallet Quantity: 960m² per pallet
- Roll Weight: 24kg
There are currently two products affected by this change:
- BauderTEC DBR – AVCL for Thermofol and Thermoplan Single Ply systems.
- BauderTEC KSD DUO – AVCL and carrier membrane for LiquiTEC and LiquiTOP Cold Applied Liquid systems.
The current version of BauderTEC DBR is a 0.4mm thick foil-faced self-adhesive Air & Vapour Control Layer used within certain Single Ply warm roof applications.
The original version of BauderTEC DBR will not be discontinued. However, it will no longer be stocked within the UK and will therefore only be available subject to extended lead times.
The increased thickness of BauderTEC DBR 06 allows it to be used as the AVCL within fully adhered roof assemblies, subject to project-specific wind load calculations.
All existing Bauder Single Ply specifications within our system that currently incorporate BauderTEC DBR will be updated to BauderTEC DBR 06.
BauderTEC KSD DUO will cease to be manufactured and, once existing stock has been exhausted, will no longer be available.
As a consequence of the removal of BauderTEC KSD DUO from our product portfolio and the transition from BauderTEC DBR to BauderTEC DBR 06, all future orders requiring these products will be supplied using BauderTEC DBR 06.
All Bauder Cold Applied Liquid specifications currently incorporating BauderTEC KSD DUO as either the AVCL or carrier membrane will also be updated to use BauderTEC DBR 06.
General Guidance
As a foil-faced self-adhered AVCL, BauderTEC DBR 06 is suitable for use on plywood, OSB3 and metal decks.
It is not intended for use on concrete or screeded decks, where an alternative Bauder AVCL should be specified as appropriate.

In line with Bauder's existing guidance relating to self-adhesive membranes, all substrates must be primed with Activator-Primer prior to the installation of BauderTEC DBR 06.
This requirement applies to both AVCL applications and carrier membrane applications.
BauderTEC DBR 06 has been included in the relevant Single Ply and Cold Applied Liquid system price lists from October 2021.
