BauderECO FF Flatboard Insulation
Introducing our biomass-based flatboard warm roof insulation – BauderECO FF.
Bauder are pleased to announce, as part of our continued commitment to providing sustainable products, the launch of BauderECO FF flatboard warm roof insulation.
BauderECO FF flatboard insulation is available from 7th March 2024.
We are launching ECO FF at Futurebuild from 5th to 7th March. Following the initial launch, we will be hosting dedicated presentations for Approved Contractors at Regional Technical Events later in the year, which will also include additional technical updates.

Characteristics of ECO FF
BauderECO FF is a rigid foam thermoset Polyisocyanurate (PIR) insulation board designed for the thermal insulation of flat roofs.
The boards feature an 80% biomass-balanced insulation core, resulting in lower embodied carbon when compared with many traditional insulation products.
ECO FF also incorporates recycled raw materials from milling and sawing processes (1%) and utilises calcium carbonate derived from crushed shell waste generated by the food industry. Both sides of the board are faced with a glass fleece finish.
The boards are manufactured with rebated edges to reduce the risk of thermal bridging at board joints.
ECO FF can be used on a variety of deck types in conjunction with suitable Bauder waterproofing systems. The insulation may be bonded to the AVCL or mechanically fixed through to the deck.

- Bauder Total Roof System (BTRS)
- Bauder Total Green Roof System (BTGRS)
- Thermofol Mechanically Fixed Systems
What Thicknesses of ECO FF Are Available?
ECO FF is currently available in the following thicknesses:
- 80mm
- 125mm
- 160mm
Where 30mm insulation is required for upstands, FA-TE insulation should be used.
Is ECO FF Available in Tapered?
ECO FF will initially only be available as a flatboard insulation product.
Future developments within the tapered insulation range are currently being explored, and further updates will be provided when available.
Pricing
ECO FF is priced on application. Please contact your local Area Technical Manager for project-specific pricing.
ECO FF is currently available in conjunction with Bitumen and Thermofol systems only.
For direct-load pricing, please note that this product is only available in full insulation loads and cannot be supplied in conjunction with membrane rolls.

Specifications incorporating ECO FF insulation will begin appearing over the coming weeks.
Testing & Certification
ECO FF has successfully achieved wind uplift testing in accordance with TR005 when used within both the Bauder Total Roof System (BTRS) and Thermofol mechanically fixed system.
ECO FF has also successfully achieved BROOF(t4) fire performance classification when used with the BTRS and Thermofol mechanically fixed systems.
BBA Certification is currently progressing through the verification process. A further update will be provided once certification has been successfully completed.
Installation
- ECO FF boards can be cut using a handsaw.
- PU Tin Adhesive should be used to bond boards to all AVCL types and for board-to-board adhesion where multiple insulation layers are installed.
- A layer of Activator-Primer should be applied to the top facing of the uppermost board prior to installing the self-adhesive underlayer within the BTRS system.
