BauderECO FF Flatboard Insulation

Bauder ECO FF, our biomass balance based flatboard warm roof insulation can now be included within our tapered insulation designs.
Bauder are pleased to announce as part of our continued commitment to provide sustainable products, we are introducing BauderECO FF flatboard 80mm warm roof insulation for use as a base layer for our FA G16 Tapered insulation.

We launched ECO FF at Futurebuild in March 2024. Following the initial launch, we have had multiple requests for the product to be used in conjunction with our FA G16 tapered insulation. We are pleased to confirm we can now design, price, and supply ECO FF 80mm flatboard as a complete base layer to cover the whole roof area for our tapered insulation to sit on top to create the falls.

Characteristics of ECO FF:

BauderECO FF is a rigid foam thermoset Polyisocyanurate (PIR) board for the thermal insulation of flat roofs. The boards consist of a 80% biomass balanced insulation core resulting in a lower embodied carbon compared to most other insulants. ECO FF also contains recycled raw materials from milling/sawing (1%) and utilises calcium carbonate from crushed shell which is waste from the food industry, incorporated with a glass fleece for the facing on both sides. The insulation board has rebated edges to reduce the risk of thermal bridging at the board joints.

The insulation can be used on a variety of deck types and with a range of appropriate Bauder waterproofing systems. The insulation can be adhered to the AVCL or mechanically fixed through to the deck.

Which waterproofing systems can currently be used with ECO FF?
  • Bauder Total Roof System (BTRS) & Bauder Total Green Roof System (BTGRS).
  • Thermofol mechanically fixed.
What thicknesses of ECO FF are available?

ECO FF flatboard is currently available in 3 thicknesses:

80mm, 125mm & 160mm.

The 80mm board will be used as a base layer for our tapered designs to cover the whole roof area prior to installing our tapered insulation. Where 30mm of insulation is required for upstands, FA‐TE insulation should be used.

Tapered Designs

Please contact your local Area Technical Manager to submit a tapered design through the same channels as you currently use.

Pricing

ECO FF flatboard will be added to the next update of our price list and for use in conjunction with Bauder Total Roof System and Thermofol systems only.

When pricing for tapered, the pricing will be POA and based on the tapered design produced by Bauder and will be available from your local Area Technical Manager.

Please note that, when pricing for direct loads, this product is only available with full loads of insulation and not in conjunction with rolls of membrane.

Stock & Lead times

ECO FF is currently a non‐stock item and the lead time will be a minimum 20 working days.

Specifications

Specifications using ECO FF Insulation in conjunction with FA G16 tapered are now available.

Testing & Certification

ECO FF has successfully been wind uplift tested to TR005 with our BTRS system and Thermofol mechanically fixed system. ECO FF has also successfully been fire tested and achieved BROOF(t4) with our BTRS system and Thermofol mechanically fixed system.

BBA Certification ‐ we are currently going through the process with BBA to have the product certified. We will provide an update once we have successfully completed this process.

Installation
  • Where boards are to be cut, it is best practice to use a proprietary, cordless insulating material saw with guide rail.
  • PU Tin adhesive should be used to bond the base to all types of AVCL and for board to board where there is more than one layer.
  • A layer of Activator‐Primer should be used on the top facing of the uppermost board prior to installing selfadhesive underlayer for the BTRS system.

Note: Activator‐Primer is to be used for bonding foil to foil applications and also for bonding the valleys/ridges on tapered schemes.

Health & Safety

Information regarding handling, storage and disposal of this product can be found on the latest version of the product Safety Data Sheet, which should be consulted before use.
