Bauder Total Green Roof System PLUS (BTGRS PLUS)
As part of our continuous research and product development, we are introducing a premier bituminous green roof system offering, BTGRS PLUS, which complements our BTRS PLUS system.
BTGRS PLUS incorporates a root-resistant capping sheet encompassing both APP and SBS polymer bitumen modification to create the BauderSMARAGD capping sheet.
The system also incorporates the KSA DUO 35 SBS modified self-adhesive underlay. Combined with the BauderSMARAGD cap sheet, this provides a formidable waterproofing solution offering exceptional durability and long-term system performance.
The System Products
The robust BauderSMARAGD root-resistant capping sheet has been developed to deliver enhanced performance and service life.
The application process used for the mineral granule surface finish creates a particularly smooth and superior appearance.
APP modified bitumen is utilised within the upper coating, providing improved resistance to ultraviolet radiation and enhanced weathering characteristics that contribute to longer service life.
Reinforcement is provided by a 300g/m² polyester-glass composite, delivering exceptional strength and dimensional stability.
The underside coating incorporates Bauder's proven SBS modified elastomeric bitumen, providing excellent flexibility to accommodate climatic extremes.
A thermo-diffusible polyethylene film on the underside of the membrane dissipates rapidly when heat is applied during installation.
Due to its specialist coating formulation, BauderSMARAGD is estimated to be more than 10% quicker to install than the existing PLANT E root-resistant cap sheet.
BTGRS PLUS also incorporates KSA DUO 35 as its preferred underlay membrane. This self-adhesive product provides additional durability due to its increased thickness.
The system can be installed with a choice of Bauder uniform-thickness or tapered insulation boards and Air & Vapour Control Layers (AVCLs).
When to Specify
BTGRS PLUS is designed for both refurbishment and new build projects, particularly where an extended guarantee period is required.

- Heavy-duty and extremely durable system.
- Fire Classification – Where protected by an inorganic covering (for example gravel or paving slabs) listed within the Annex of Commission Decision 2000/553/EC, the system is considered to achieve a BROOF(t4) classification and is therefore unrestricted by National Building Regulations.
- In the opinion of the BBA, roofs incorporating the system are unrestricted when installed as:
- Roof gardens covered with a 100mm gravel drainage layer.
- Roof gardens incorporating a 300mm soil layer.
- Irrigated roof gardens.
- Green roofs.
- APP/SBS dual-modified 5.2mm bitumen capping sheet.
- Softer SBS-modified underside which contributes to approximately 10% faster installation.
- 300g/m² polyester-glass composite reinforcement providing exceptional tensile strength.
- FLL-certified for root resistance.
- Torch-free detailing available on or adjacent to combustible construction materials using Bauder KSO-P SN self-adhesive cap sheet when used with non-substrate-based landscaping finishes.
- A standard BauderPIR warm roof system is capable of withstanding permanently sited loads of up to 2000kg/m².
- Incorporates patented DUO membranes to minimise the use of flame and make installation faster, safer and more secure.
- 25-year guarantee, extendable to 30 years.

Supply & Lead Times
The new products were available from w/c 6th June 2022.
SMARAGD capping sheet was initially introduced as a non-stock item and carries a minimum lead time of 10 working days.
