New Bitumen Cable Duct & Tell-Tale Overflow
Cable duct to assist with cable entry and tell-tale overflow to simplify overflow detailing.
Bauder are pleased to announce, as part of our continued commitment to providing a comprehensive range of waterproofing accessories, the launch of a new cable duct and tell-tale overflow for use with our RBM systems.
Bauder Bitumen Cable Duct DN 110
Designed to provide a weatherproof sleeve for cables or pipes that penetrate through a flat roof. Supplied with an integral bitumen membrane flange for simple and effective installation.
The two elbows direct cables and pipes either horizontally or vertically and help shelter the exit point from rain and water ingress.
The membrane flange is fully compatible with the respective waterproofing membranes within the bitumen system and therefore forms part of the Bauder warranty.
Fixing
The duct incorporates a metal base plate beneath the bitumen flange, which should be mechanically fixed through the underlayer and into the substrate. The bitumen flange can then be bonded to the underlayer field sheet. Please refer to the relevant Bauder standard detail drawing.
A lubricating grease may be helpful when attaching the elbows together and connecting them to the duct pipe.

Bauder Bitumen Parapet 'Tell-Tale' Overflow DN 50
A Bitumen Parapet 'Tell-Tale' Overflow with a 1200mm long stainless steel spigot. Supplied with a flexible bitumen flange and designed for use with Bauder bituminous waterproofing membranes.
In accordance with BS EN 12056-3:2000, overflows or emergency outlets should be provided on flat roofs with parapets and in non-eaves gutters to reduce the risk of rainwater overspilling into a building or causing structural overloading.
The flow rate of the tell-tale overflow is significantly lower than that of vertically draining outlets. Therefore, it is intended to be used alongside primary roof drainage outlets as an additional warning overflow, helping to highlight water build-up on the roof and providing a visible indication that excessive water may be being retained.
Fixing
The overflow opening should be positioned approximately 35mm above the lowest point of the waterproofing. The overflow should be installed through the roof system and kerb following the creation of a suitably sized opening. Please refer to the relevant Bauder standard detail drawing.
The tell-tale overflow is not suitable or intended for connection to internal pipework located within wall constructions or boxed-in areas that become inaccessible after construction. Visible overflows are recommended as part of BS EN 12056-3 guidance.

Availability
The new Cable Duct will be available from 1st May 2024 and the Tell-Tale Overflow will be available from 20th May 2024.
Delivery
Both the Tell-Tale Overflow and Bitumen Cable Duct are supplied in cardboard boxes.
