Health & Safety Guidance – using Diisocyanates

REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and restriction of Chemicals) labelling and training regulations – reminder of your responsibility.

We are sending this update to you as a reminder of your responsibility with regards to training of your installers for the safe use of products containing diisocyanates. This has been in place since 24 February 2022 and the labelling of all products containing the aforementioned was amended and came into effect in August 2023. This states that every operative must be trained in how to handle and apply products containing diisocyanates safely.

NFRC Guidance

The NFRC issued a Health & Safety Guidance notification on this topic in April 2023. We have attached the document with this update. Within it is a link to e-learning the PU Training Platform, available in six languages: English, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Dutch. The training material is related to PU adhesives and sealant applications in the construction sector, and with the FEICA voucher code FEICA_21_G the training is free of charge for end-users. If you successfully pass the test at the end of the training module, a certificate will be issued to show completion of the training.

LRWA Training

The LRWA also references the relevant training, and it is necessary training for new starters. Existing staff should take a refresher every 5 years. Safe use of Diisocyanates Training https://www.lrwa.org.uk/training/
