Bauder Policy Regarding Fall Protection Posts
This update applies solely to fall protection systems designed to be fastened through the waterproofing system after completion.
Historically, Bauder only approved Latchways posts for use with Bauder waterproofing systems. We are now pleased to confirm that an alternative system from SFS Fall Protection has also been approved.
The Latchways company is now known as MSA. The product continues to be recognised as the Latchways Constant Force® Post.
Bauder Specifications
Bauder specifications should include either Latchways Constant Force Posts or SFS SOTER II® Posts within the Additional Items section wherever this style of fall protection system is known to be required.
Bauder has carried out extensive testing with both systems and is happy to endorse their use with the waterproofing systems listed in this document.
Please note that Cold Applied Liquid Systems cannot currently be used with the SFS system, as additional testing is still required.
Latchways Posts for Use with Bauder Waterproofing Systems
Please refer to the relevant Bauder standard detail drawing for each waterproofing system.
Bituminous Membranes
Serviced by part number 65690-00.
This consists of a black polyester powder-coated baseplate and post, unique to Bauder. The colour enables MSA installers to identify bituminous Bauder installations should future post activation occur.
Each post carries a factory-applied label reading:

THIS ROOF COVERING MAY BE COVERED BY A BAUDER SYSTEM GUARANTEE.
Please check with the Property Manager before any works are undertaken.
This includes repairs after post activation or post replacement.
Thermofol Membranes
Thermofol PVC is serviced by a PVC-coated post and baseplate (Part Number 65616-00) that enables the membrane to be directly welded to the flange of the baseplate.
This version does not include the factory-applied Bauder guarantee label.
Thermoplan Membranes
Thermoplan FPO is serviced by an FPO-coated post and baseplate (Part Number 65632-00) that enables direct welding of the membrane to the flange of the baseplate.
This version does not include the factory-applied Bauder guarantee label.
LiquiTEC Systems
LiquiTEC systems are serviced using the PVC-coated post and baseplate (Part Number 65616-00), allowing the waterproofing system to be directly applied to the baseplate flange.
This version also does not include the factory-applied guarantee label.
SFS Fall Protection SOTER II Posts for Use with Bauder Waterproofing Systems
Please refer to the appropriate Bauder standard detail drawing for each waterproofing system.
Bituminous Membranes
The SOTER II mill-finished base plate suitable for use with Bauder bituminous waterproofing systems is:
- Part Number: 1665988 (FP-BP-MH)
Once primed, the baseplate allows membranes to be directly applied to the surface.
The underlayer must extend a minimum of 100mm beyond the edge of the baseplate onto the surrounding membrane. The capping sheet must extend a further 100mm beyond the underlayer whilst ensuring a neat bitumen extrusion. Please refer to the relevant Bauder detail drawing.
Thermofol PVC Membranes
The SOTER II PVC-coated baseplate suitable for Bauder Thermofol PVC systems is:
- Baseplate: 1665989 (FP-BP-MH-PVC)
- Foil-Faced Baseplate Gasket: 1676193 (FP-BP-GS)
The coated baseplate incorporates a dedicated area for direct welding of the membrane.
Thermoplan FPO Membranes
The SOTER II mill-finished baseplate suitable for Thermoplan FPO systems is:
- Baseplate: 1665988 (FP-BP-MH)
- Foil-Faced Baseplate Gasket: 1676193 (FP-BP-GS)
Thermoplan membrane must be weathered up the SOTER II post to a minimum height of 150mm and finished using the SFS Weathering Cowl:
- Part Number: 1664909 (FP-FTA-WC)
Dedicated Bauder Load Modules
The SFS SOTER II post incorporates dedicated Bauder Load Modules suitable for attachment to the baseplate system selected:
- Bauder High Load Module: Part Number 1687130 (FP-BAU-FTH)
- Bauder Intermediate Load Module: Part Number 1687132 (FP-BAU-FTI)
These dedicated Bauder Load Modules incorporate a factory-applied identification label, providing additional protection against guarantee invalidation and enabling SFS Recognised Installers to identify Bauder systems should future post activation occur.
Bauder Policy Regarding Retro-Fitted Fall Protection Systems
With effect from January 2021, Bauder will advise clients that the Latchways and SFS products listed within this document are the only retro-fitted fall protection systems of this type that Bauder endorses for use with Bauder waterproofing systems.
The Bauder guarantee covers the attachment of the Bauder waterproofing system to the approved Latchways or SFS SOTER II baseplates. It does not cover the fall protection posts themselves.
