Changes to Bauder's Fire Guidance for BauderSOLAR Systems on Flat Roofs

As part of our ongoing product development process, Bauder are updating our guidance for BauderSOLAR installations on flat roof systems.

Why?

Solar photovoltaic installations are becoming increasingly common on flat roofs in both new build and commercial retrofit projects.

There remains a lack of agreed industry standards and testing methodologies in this area. In light of guidance following the Hackitt recommendations, recent insurance industry updates, together with new evidence and testing, Bauder has reviewed its approach to ensure we continue to provide the best possible guidance to our clients.

What is Changing?

From 1st February 2024, Bauder will only provide BauderSOLAR designs for schemes where one of the following conditions is met:

  • A non-combustible deck, such as metal or concrete.
  • A non-combustible layer above the waterproofing, such as:
    • 50mm of stone ballast, or
    • 80mm of BauderGREEN substrate.

When Does This Come Into Effect?

1st February 2024.
