Site Inspections by Bauder Site Technicians
Following the Prime Minister's announcement, Bauder will continue to carry out site inspections wherever this can be achieved in accordance with Public Health England guidance on social distancing and access to suitable hand sanitising facilities.
We are advising our Site Technicians to take all necessary steps to maintain their personal safety and minimise exposure to risk.
Our current approach and guidance are outlined below.
Site Inspection Guidance
- Final Inspections
These inspections must be physically attended in order for a roof to be signed off and approved for guarantee purposes. Completed roofs must therefore have safe access available. - Lone Access Inspections
We are requesting that Site Technicians are given lone access to carry out inspections. We will work with contractors regarding timing and will seek to minimise any disruption or downtime. - Virtual Inspections
For sites operating restricted access policies (except essential workers), we would ask for support from a nominated installer or site supervisor by using FaceTime video calls and/or supplying photographs of completed works from site.
Whilst this is not the ideal solution, it does enable interim progress reports to be completed and these are considered acceptable within our monitoring process. - New Build Sites
We are advising our Site Technicians not to visit new build sites due to the higher risks associated with larger numbers of trades, difficulties accessing hygiene facilities and challenges maintaining social distancing.
However, virtual inspections may still be carried out with contractor support and assistance. - Smaller Self-Managed Refurbishment Sites
Site visits may continue where safe access is available and arrangements can be made for our staff to inspect the roof alone.
We are aware that many sites may be temporarily shutting down and that Government guidance may change over the coming days.
